Caldwell Regional Career Center Welding Team Wins State

The welding team from the Caldwell Regional Career Center recently competed in the Kentucky State Skills Welding Contest held during the State Skills Convention held in Louisville.

The 3 member team consisted of senior Potter Gray and juniors Trayton Freeman and Tyler Gibson. Gray explained when the contest began the team was given a blueprint to go by and had to weld and create a structure.

click to download audioGray said the team had to win the regional contest to qualify for the state competition. He also described the facility where the state contest was held in Lousiville.

click to download audioAll three of the students are planning to use welding in their future careers. Gray is in his 4 year of welding and plans to secure a job after graduation.
