With an average high of 95° expected over the next week, the electricity bill could quickly become a significant expense due to the increased use of air conditioning to keep your home cool.

During a Wednesday visit with the Elkton Rotary Club, Tennessee Valley Authority’s Adam May shared some tips to lower your monthly expenses during this long, hot summer.

May, a Communications and Media Specialist with the TVA, also suggested using appliances that produce heat during the early morning or evening hours.

He added TVA offers rebates, like $50 toward air conditioner tune-ups.

If you take advantage of the rebates, May said there will be energy savings and your helping reduce the energy load that TVA has to provide to the region.

May is celebrating his first anniversary of working with the regional energy supplier. TVA serves nearly all of Tennessee, southern Kentucky, northeast Mississippi, northern Alabama and Georgia, and small portions of North Carolina and Virginia.
