Boutiques, crafters, community clubs, political figures, and more are welcome to come and set up a booth. Angie also stated that there will be several people running for political office this year set up at the festival and that it would be a perfect time to come and talk to each candidate one on one in a relaxed setting. The Caldwell Medical Center will also be there providing free screenings from 10AM to 2PM including glucose and cholesterol screenings and radiation-free bone mineral density scans. Dr. Sue Petty will also be there providing information about skin cancer awareness and prevention.

Angie then told listeners about one of the biggest pulls for the festival, its food. The festival will feature barbecued pork butt and chicken, which will be available by the pound, sandwich, or plate. Plates will come with your choice of two of three available sides: potato salad, cole slaw, or chips. Concessions will also include hamburgers and hotdogs, sno-cones, funnel cakes, popcorn, homemade pies and cakes, hand-dipped ice cream, and Lemonade Shake-Ups.

Angie then reminded listeners that the annual Summer Festival is a fundraiser for the Fredonia Lions club and all proceeds will benefit their charitable contributions including donations to Bright Life Farms, scholarships given to graduating seniors at several area high schools, their eyeglasses program that provides new eyeglasses for those who can’t afford them on their own, and more.

Angie then took a few moments to remind listeners that the Summer Festival Parade will be held on Friday, August 10th, at 6PM. All those who wish to participate in the parade should arrive at the old Fredonia school parking lot between 5 and 5:30PM and should meet up with Michelle Travis to fill out the registration form and receive your entry number. To be part of the line up pull in by City Hall and drive towards the First Baptist Church. If you have horses and trailers please pull in beside City Hall and park behind the school. The parking lot of the First Baptist Church will be blocked off as it will be part of the parade route, so they are asking that anyone wishing to watch the parade please not park in the First Baptist Church parking lot or anywhere along the lineup.
