Area students are getting more opportunities to be college and career ready thanks to a local school district and community college.

Caldwell County High School Principal Christie Phelps said that Caldwell County students have the opportunity to earn dual credit, which can not only prepare them for college, but also cut down on growing college costs.

Duel credit courses are offered through a program at Madisonville Community College.

But not only does Caldwell help students wishing to pursue higher education, there are ample opportunities to pursue technological and trades education as well.

The Area Technology Center will also help the community as a whole as well.

Other than helping students get a jump start on college courses or earning industry certificates high school officials are offering FAFSA workshops to help students navigate financial aid.

Teachers are also working on new strategies to help juniors and seniors successfully take the ACT.
