Ashley White, Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences at the UK Extension Office, was in studio Wednesday morning for WPKY’s weekly Extension Program.
Ashley reminded listeners that she still has spots open for Friday’s Laugh & Learn Preschool Playdates. The event will start at 9:30AM and will be at the UK Extension Office, located on Highway 62 West in Princeton, and is geared for ages 5 and under and at least one parent or guardian. They will be learning about the eclipse and space.
Ashley then told listeners about Pinterest Club and its first class of the fall on August 22nd at 5:30PM. The first class will be free but you do have to call the Extension Office at 270-365-2787 to register by Friday so they will have enough supplies. The class will be covering bullet journaling, money saving strategies, and more.
She then spoke about the upcoming Supper Club, starting on August 28th at 6PM, that will cover basic cooking skills, quick meals, and more. The class is free, but you do have to register.
She also mentioned the Keys to Embracing Life Class that starts August 29th at 10AM. The first class will cover how to have a positive attitude, turning negatives into positives, and tuning into the times – how to keep up with technology. At the end of the class a 30 day challenge will be issued to use at least one of the tips for a solid 30 days. If you can’t attend the class Ashley did say that they will upload a summary video on the Extension Office’s Facebook page that will go over the tips and will issue the challenge.
Ashley also mentioned the upcoming #adulting class that will begin in September. The first class will cover basic need to knows for your car and the second class will deal with basic cooking. All classes will involve basic life and business skills.
Ashley then told listeners about all the 4-H kids who are competing at the Kentucky State Fair. The first competition will be the Country Ham Contest Thursday, August 17th. There are 20 4-H’ers that are competing in the event. Then Laken White and Caroline White will be showing goats on Friday, August 18th. Then Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, August 23rd through the 25th, Daniel Laurent, Katy Trimble, Evan Cotton, Eli Cotton, and Bradley Trimble will be showing pigs. Competition will end on Friday, August 25th, with our 4-H’ers performing and sharing talents during the District 7 day. Ashley also mentioned that the State Shooting Sports Contest will be September 8th and 9th.
