Ashley White, Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences at the UK Extension Office, was in studio Wednesday morning for WPKY’s weekly Extension Program.

Ashley first told listeners about the next Recipe Review on April 17th from 11:30AM to 12:30PM at the Extension Office located on Highway 62 West in Princeton. They will be trying the recipe for Parmesan Chicken from the Nutrition Education Program Calendar as well as asparagus tomato salad. The event is free and open to the public and is a come and go taste test. The recipes will be available at the Extension Office to take home after the tasting. If you plan on attending, please call the Extension Office at 270-365-2787 to register so that they will know how much to prepare for.

Ashley then told listeners about the next Laugh & Learn Preschool Playdate on April 27th from 9:30 to 11AM at the Extension Office. The theme is Monster Magical Chairs and will include activities that will engage you and your child while teaching math skills, language skills, science, sharing, colors, shapes, letters, numbers, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, nutrition, and more! Activities are designed for children age 5 and under with a parent, guardian, or babysitter. The playdate is free and open to the public but they ask that you call them at 270-365-2787 to register by April 26th.

Ashley then mentioned the next Pinterest Club on May 3rd at 5:30PM at the Extension Office. Participants will learn how to use stories to communicate, will create story stones, and will try a delicious new recipe. Cost is $3 to cover craft supplies and you must call the Extension Office to register by May 1st.

There will also be a Homemaker Leader Lesson on April 24th at 5PM at the Extension Office about the Art of Storytelling, taught by Cecelia Hostilo, Trigg County FCS Agent. Participants will learn how to use stories, analogies, and metaphors to communicate effectively. Even if you are not a homemaker lesson leader you may attend, but call the Extension Office to register.

Ashley also mentioned that there will be a Hands On Nutrition workshop on May 7th at 5:30PM at the Extension Office. This is the workshop rescheduled from April 9th. Participants will learn how to make healthy food choices for themselves and their families, will learn how to prepare meals that include a variety of foods using MyPlate, and of course, participate in hands on cooking. The workshop is free and open to the public but you must call the Extension Office at 270-365-2787 to register by May 4th.
