Ashley White, Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences at the Caldwell County UK Extension Office, was in studio Wednesday morning for WPKY’s weekly Extension Program.
Ashley first told listeners about the upcoming Gardening in Small Spaces Homemaker Leader Lesson on Tuesday, March 6th at 10AM at the Caldwell County Extension Office located on Highway 62 West in Princeton. The lesson will cover raised bed gardening and container gardening and is open to the public, you don’t have to be a Homemaker Leader to attend. However you do need to register by calling the Extension Office at 270-365-2787.
Ashley then told listeners that the rescheduled #adulting class Sewing 101 will be on Tuesday, March 6th at 6PM. The class will cover basic sewing skills and is free and open to the public but you do have to register by calling the Extension Office. There will also be another #adulting class, Being a Good Employee, on Tuesday, March 20th at 6PM. The class will cover what to wear to an interview, how to act in an interview, how to keep a job once you get it, and more. You can register by calling the Extension Office at 270-365-2787.
Ashley then reminded listeners of the upcoming Hands On Nutrition Workshop on Monday, March 12th at 5:30PM. The workshop will cover making healthy food choices for your family, preparing meals that include a variety of foods using MyPlate, and of course, hands on cooking. The workshop is free but you do have to register by March 9th by calling them at 270-365-2787.
Ashley then told listeners of the upcoming Kentucky Proud Seminar on Friday, March 23rd starting at 10AM. The seminar is being presented by the Pennyrile Area Homemakers and the keynote speaker is Chad Smith, Kentucky Proud Marketing & Promotions Director from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. There will also be a catered lunch, Kentucky Proud Vendor Marketplace, and door prize giveaways. The seminar will be at the Christian County Extension Office in Hopkinsville but you can register here at the Caldwell County Extension Office. There is a $12 registration fee but it will include the catered lunch and you must register by March 9th.
Ashley also mentioned that the next Recipe Review will be on Tuesday, March 27th from 11:30AM to 12:30PM at the Extension Office. It’s a come and go event to taste test recipes from the Nutrition Education Program Calendar and Plate It Up Kentucky Proud program. The recipes on March 27th are chowder made easy and sweet potato crisp. Recipes will be available at the Extension Office to take home after you do the taste test. It is free but you do need to register so that they’ll know how much to prepare for.
