Ashley White, Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences at the UK Extension Office, was in studio Wednesday morning for WPKY’s weekly Extension Program.
Ashley first reminded listeners that the next Supper Club cooking workshop will be held on Monday, February 5th at 5:30PM at the UK Extension Office located on Highway 62 West in Princeton. The workshop covers easy to cook meals, how to spend your food dollars wisely, easy to do physical activity, and more. The workshop is free but you do have to call the Extension Office at 270-365-2787 to register by Friday, February 2nd.
Ashley then mentioned that the next #adulting class will be on Tuesday, February 6th, at 6PM at the Extension Office. The class will be about being a good employee and will cover how to dress for interviews, how to keep a job once you get it, and just generally, how to be a good employee. The class is free but you do have to register by Monday, February 5th, and can do so by calling the Extension Office.
Ashley then told listeners that the first Pinterest Club meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, February 13th at 5:30PM. Participants will learn how to downsize and organize your home, try a delicious recipe, and make a heart doily tea towel. The cost is $3 and all those interested must register and pay by Friday, February 9th so that they have enough time to prepare the craft.
Ashley also mentioned that there is another Recipe Review coming up on Tuesday, February 20th, from 11:30AM to 12:30PM. The recipe to taste test will be a skillet enchilada. The cost is free but they do need to know how much to make, so they are asking participants to call and register by Monday, February 19th. Recipe cards will be available for participants to take home on the day of the taste test.
Ashley then told listeners that the #adulting Sewing 101 class that was cancelled due to snow has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 6th at 6PM. All those interested in attending do need to register by Monday, March 5th.
Ashley then said that 4-H Shooting Sports will be starting back up soon. Shooting Sports gives youth ages 9 to 18 an opportunity to learn gun safety and participate in a non-contact sport. The Caldwell County program has several certified coaches that lead the program in disciplines such as BB pistol and rifle, riflery, pistol, archery, and trap. Anyone who may be interested in participating must attend two mandatory safety orientations on Tuesday, March 13th and Tuesday, March 20th at 6PM at the Fire and Training Center on Highway 62 West in Princeton. Ashley then let listeners know that 4-H Camp is coming up on June 5th through the 8th at the West Kentucky 4-H Camp in Dawson Springs. 4-H Camp is open to youth ages 9 to 14 and gives them the opportunity to develop independence and responsibility, learn new things and make friends. Activities include swimming, archery, canoeing, arts & crafts, riflery, horsemanship, and much more! Registration information for this year will be available soon.
