Caldwell County Clerk gives citizens information before elections on Tuesday
Elections are upon us and a local County Clerk has some information for all those planning to get out and vote on Tuesday.
Caldwell County Clerk Toni Watson reminds citizens to be sure they have their driver’s license, or other form of photo ID, with them when they go to vote. If you can’t provide an ID and election officials can’t confirm your identity personally, you will not be allowed to vote. This is especially the case for those in the Harmony Precinct, who will be using the new e-poll for this election. E-poll books will scan your driver’s license as you sign in.
Clerk Watson also says that if you have recently moved and have not yet changed your voter registration to your new address at the courthouse you will be able to do so at your new voting precinct. You will need to fill out a new voter registration form and an oath of voter form. All election officials have been trained and will be there to assist you.
Three precincts will have a new polling location that was effective during the primary election in May. Those in the Wards Creek, Airport, and Harmony Precincts will now vote at Northside Baptist Church, located at 101 Dawson Road in Princeton, instead of at the UK Research and Education Center.
Clerk Watson says polling locations will be open from 6AM to 6PM on Tuesday and that everyone in line by 6PM will be allowed to vote. Anyone arriving at the polling location after 6PM will not be allowed to vote. Each polling location will also have a handicapped accessible voting booth that is electronic and voters are allowed to ask for voting assistance from available election workers, one Republican, one Democratic.
Anyone who has any issues at polling places are welcome to call the County Clerk’s Office at 270-365-6754 or stop by the courthouse during Election Day to voice their concerns and get the issue corrected.
