A local school district is yet again offering free meals to it’s students throughout the entire school year.

Caldwell County Director of Food Service, Will Brown, says Caldwell is a Community Eligible Provision District, which means all students are eligible to receive free meals.

Will commended the employees who work with him in the cafeterias across the district for their hard work, saying that their job is one of the most important, they’re feeding hungry kids which allows them to focus on their studies instead of empty bellies.

The program, which is supplied through the USDA, is in it’s second year at Caldwell County Schools. Schools are reimbursed for the meals using a formula based on the percentage of students categorically eligible for free meals based on their participation in other means-tested programs, such as SNAP and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
