George Barber, from Knights of Columbus, in studio, December 5, 2017
George Barber, from the Knights of Columbus, was in studio Tuesday morning to talk to WPKY about the Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative fundraiser going on through December 21st.
George told listeners that the local council of the Knights of Columbus are raising money to help provide a new 3D ultrasound machine to the new HOPE Clinic in Eddyville. He said that the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus would match any amount the local council raised, so George is hoping they’ll be able to get the machine for half price. George said that they’ve had several fundraisers so far, but that he is excited about the current fundraiser. One of the local Knights of Columbus has season tickets for University of Kentucky basketball and has offered five packages to raffle off. They are raffling off a New Year’s Eve package, which includes the UK Women verses Tennessee and the UK Men verses Georgia games on December 31st, the other four packages include the UK Men verses Texas A&M on January 9th, the UK Men verses Vanderbilt on January 30th, the UK Women verses Alabama on January 25th and the UK Women verses Arkansas on February 15th. All of the men’s games will be at Rupp Arena and are in Section 225, Row N, seats 13 and 14. All of the women’s games will be at Memorial Coliseum and are in Section HH, Row 29, seats 12 and 13. For the New Year’s Package, both games will be at Rupp Arena. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20.00 and only 500 tickets will be sold. Raffle tickets can be purchased at Cozy Living and Stringbeans in Princeton, Ackridge Farm Supply and the HOPE Clinic in Eddyville, and the Baptist Health Fitness Formula in Dawson Springs. They will sell raffle tickets until December 21st, when they’ll draw the five winners starting at 7:30PM. It will be first come, first serve, whoever is called first will have first choice.
George then told listeners a bit more about the HOPE Clinic in Eddyville, which opened about six months ago. They’re open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11AM to 6PM and are located at 705 Fairview Avenue in Eddyville. The clinic offers pregnancy tests, STD testing, counseling, family support, ultrasounds and more in a non-judgmental and loving environment, all for free. The 3D ultrasound machine that the Knights of Columbus wants to provide for the clinic will allow expecting mothers to see the growth of their baby in great detail and will help the clinic provide better services to those in the surrounding area. For more information you can always call them at 270-601-5075.
The UK Basketball Ticket Raffle will go through December 21st and tickets can be bought at Cozy Living and Stringbeans in Princeton, Ackridge and the HOPE Clinic in Eddyville, and the Baptist Health Fitness Formula in Dawson Springs.
