Jacy Travis and Jake Sheidler, members of the Kentucky High School Rodeo Association, were in studio Thursday morning to talk to WPKY about their recent and upcoming rodeo competitions.

Jacy and Jake stated that they recently participated in the State Finals in Muhlenburg County. Jacy competed in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and breakaway roping while Jake competed in tie down roping, team roping, and steer wrestling. Jacy also competed in the Queen Contest in which she had to not only model, but partake in an interview, give a speech, answer an impromptu question, and take a test over the rule book and horsemanship. Jacy was crowned Miss Kentucky High School Rodeo Queen and will now compete in the national competition in Wyoming in July. Jake will also head to the national competition as he qualified in all three of his events. Before the national competition Jake will also compete in the International Finals Youth Rodeo in Oklahoma.

Jacy and Jake also mentioned that the High School team will grow next year with the additions of Sydney and Skylar Newton, who currently compete on the Junior High team, and who will be attending the National Junior High Finals in South Dakota this month.
