Jeremy Whited and Jacey Travis from the Fredonia Valley Riding Club were in studio Thursday morning to talk to WPKY about the upcoming Ranch Rodeo on Friday, August 10th at 8PM.

Jeremy told listeners that Ranch Rodeos differ from regular rodeos because events include those that are done on a working ranch day in and day out. The idea started out west when working cowboys started getting together and competing against each other to see who could perform daily tasks the quickest. Events will include trailer loading, double mugging, branding, saddle steer riding, and sorting and will be completed by teams of both men and women. Jeremy stated that there will be 54 male contestants and 28 female contestants and also noted that calves will not actually be branded, teams will use flour on the branding irons to mark the calves during the event.

Jacey then mentioned that there will also be vendors and concessions at the event as well and that admission is $5 per person and all those 12 and under will get in for free. Jeremy mentioned that seating is limited and suggested that you bring lawn chairs or even pull up and sit in the back of your vehicle. The event will be held rain or shine at the Fredonia Riding Club Arena located at 210 Dalton Road in Fredonia.

Jacey also told listeners that they will be having a barrel and poles riding event on Saturday night beginning at 6PM, with training to begin at 4PM. All interested in running barrels or poles can show up at 4 and get signed up.
