Joni Phelps, EFNAP Agent at the UK Extension Office, was in studio Wednesday morning for WPKY’s weekly Extension Program.
Joni first told listeners about the upcoming Recipe Reviews on June 18th and 19th. She’ll be at the George Coon Public Library on Monday, June 18th from 11AM to 1PM with samples and then on Tuesday, June 19th from 11:30AM to 12:30PM participants will be able to stop by the Extension Office to taste test the recipe. Recipes this month include broccoli salad and blueberry cream cheese pound cake. Please call the Extension Office at 270-365-2787 to register if you plan on attending the Recipe Review at the Extension Office.
Joni then mentioned the next Hands On Nutrition Workshop will be held on Monday, June 25th at 5:30PM at the Extension Office. Participants will learn how to cook quick and affordable meals, will learn about food safety, how to save money on groceries, and of course, hands on cooking. The event is free and open to the public but you must register by June 22nd by calling the Extension Office.
Joni also told listeners about two new cooking classes the Extension Office will be offering. The first, Cooking with Kids, will be on Tuesday, June 26th at 5PM at the Extension Office. The workshop is geared for families of all ages and will teach participants how to involve children in the food preparation process while preparing delicious and nutritious meals and snacks. The workshop is free but space is limited so call the Extension Office and register today.
The second workshop, Cooking with Joni, will be held on Thursday, June 28th at 11:30AM at the Extension Office. Participants will learn how to cook quick and easy meals, but the class will also focus more on technical cooking skills, food safety, and more. The workshop is free but you must register by June 27th by calling the Extension Office at 270-365-2787.
