Joni Phelps, EFNAP Agent at the UK Extension Office, was in studio Wednesday morning for WPKY’s weekly Extension Program.

Joni first reminded listeners of the Supper Club and it’s next workshop on Monday, October 23rd, at 6PM at the UK Extension Office located on Highway 62 West in Princeton. Participants will learn to save money on groceries, will learn to cook quick, easy, and affordable meals, will learn how to prepare healthy foods that taste great, and will learn about easy and free ways to be more physically active. Joni said that you can attend the workshop even if you’ve never attended any of the previous ones and can of course attend if you’ve attended the other workshops. The workshop is free but they do require that you register, and you can do so by calling the Extension Office at 270-365-2787.

Joni then spoke about the upcoming Pinterest Club on Thursday, November 2nd, at 5:30PM at the Extension Office. Participants will learn how to cook for one, two, or a few, will try a delicious recipe, and will create a reversible block holiday decoration that says “Give Thanks” on one side and “Jingle Bells” on the other. Cost is $3 if you’re not a member of Pinterest Club, but you can pay $20 for a Pinterest Club membership that will also include a Homemaker’s Club membership and will allow you to attend the Pinterest Club meetings for free. Joni did ask that if you’re interested, you do need to register and pay by October 27th so they know how many craft supplies to prepare.

Joni then reminded listeners of the upcoming #adulting class on Tuesday, November 7th, at 6PM at the Extension Office. The class will cover Money 101 and participants will learn about credit scores, how to budget, and much more. The class is free but they do want you to register.

Joni then told listeners about Pink Out Princeton on Friday, October 20th, which is a collaboration with Healthy CaldWELL to encourage local businesses, civic organizations, and all community members to dress in all pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Healthy CaldWELL is asking everyone to dress up in all pink and then take photos of themselves with their coworkers/families/etc. and post those photos to Healthy CaldWELL’s Facebook page. The photo with the most likes and comments will then be recognized on October 27th and the group pictured will receive a free gift basket from Health First Community Health Center.

Joni then ended by talking about Sew Simple on Friday, November 10th, from 9AM to 2PM at the Extension Office. Cost is $10 and money is due by November 3rd. Those interested are being asked to bring their own supplies including one jelly roll (make sure there are 40 in your jelly roll) or 40 WOF strips, two and a half yards of coordinating background fabric, your own sewing machine, sewing supplies, rotary cutter, mat, and ruler. The event is suggested for people with basic and intermediate sewing skills. Participants will be making a Chinese Coin Quilt. For more information and to register you can call the Extension Office at 270-365-2787.
