New local chapter of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution to be formed
A neighboring Sons of the American Revolution chapter is looking to expand and create a new local chapter.
Robert Ward, member of the Stephen Trigg Chapter of the SAR in Cadiz, says after months of increased interest, a new chapter will be forming in Caldwell County.
Those men interested in becoming a member of the chapter must have documented proof that an ancestor served during the American Revolutionary War or who contributed to establishing independence, including citizens who provided arms or supplies to the American cause.
There is an application that must be submitted and approved in order to join, but employees at the Glenn Martin Genealogy Library will be happy to help with the application process. The library, which is located at 201 West Main Street, is open Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 3PM.
Even if you’re not interested in joining with the SAR, all are welcome to stop by the library for answers to your historical and genealogical questions. Within the walls are a wealth of information.
