Newly hired Princeton city employees who are already enrolled in state’s retirement no longer have a waiting period to enroll with the city’s retirement plan
Newly hired Princeton city employees who are already enrolled in any Commonwealth of Kentucky retirement program will now be eligible for immediate enrollment in the Princeton’s retirement plan.
At a meeting Monday night Princeton City Council members unanimously approved a resolution changing a policy that all new hires had to be employed for six months before being eligible to enroll in the city’s retirement plan. The policy now states those who are already enrolled in any retirement program through the state are immediately eligible to enroll. All other new hires must still wait six months to be eligible.
Princeton Mayor Danny Beavers says the change will help Princeton recruit new hires, especially first responders.
