A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is planning an eastbound overnight closure on Interstate 24 on Sunday, November 11th.

KYTC Public Information Officer Keith Todd says that eastbound traffic on I-24 will be closed at the 30 mile marker starting at 7:00PM Sunday, to allow a concrete pour as part of joint installation work on the Tennessee River Bridge.

Message boards will be installed to direct traffic to detour via US62 eastbound and KY453 northbound. However, while traffic volume along I-24 drops off around that same time, a substantial delay is possible, so motorists traveling from the Paducah area to Nashville should consider a detour along I-69 southbound to US68 eastbound to rejoin I-24 at Cadiz Exit 65.

Motorists who regularly travel these detour corridors should be alert for heavier than normal traffic Sunday night into Monday morning.

I-24 eastbound traffic is expected to reopen at 6:00AM on Monday, November 12th.

This planned eastbound closure on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge at the 30 mile marker should have no impact on westbound traffic along I-24, but as a reminder, westbound traffic continues to be restricted to one lane in the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge work zone.
