Pat George and Gale Cherry were in studio Tuesday morning for the first Tiger Talk Morning Show of the new year. They spoke with WPKY about the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Day “Unity in the Community” luncheon.

The luncheon, which is three years and running, will be held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 15th, at noon at the Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Princeton. New this year, the program will take place first in the church’s sanctuary, before attendees will gather upstairs in the fellowship hall for lunch. This years speaker will be Dr. Carrie Allen. She is a doctoral student and Hospice Chaplin who had a previous career in politics. She will be speaking about several things she’s an expert in, including disparities and the quality of health care for African American women in the United States.

The meal will be buffet style and will be provided by Central Presbyterian. Other churches who are involved in the event include, Harrison Street Baptist, First United Methodist, Shepherd Street Baptist, Spillman Chapel CME, Saint James Cumberland Presbyterian, Princeton First Baptist, Ogden United Methodist, Princeton First Christian, and Northside. The Horizon Club at Caldwell County Middle School, lead by Chelsea Ladd and Vic Gray, is also helping this year.

Tickets are $5 and are available at Feather Your Nest and the Cat’s Tale Used Book Store, which are both located downtown Princeton.
