Rhonda Jewell, 4-H Agent at the UK Extension Office, was in studio Wednesday morning for WPKY’s weekly Extension Program.

Rhonda reminded listeners of a few events coming up for 4-H members including the banquet on November 20th at 6PM at the UK Research and Education Center and the Stuck in the Middle retreat for 4-H’ers in the 6th through 8th grades that will be Friday and Saturday, November 17th and 18th. She also reminded all listeners who have purchased poinsettias from 4-H students that they will be available for pickup on November 27th at the UK Extension Office located on Highway 62 West in Princeton.

Rhonda then told listeners that the 4-H Trash Sculpture contest will be on November 30th and is for Kindergarten through 12th grades. Each school will compete against itself, and the top three winners will go on to the county contest and then the top three in the county will go on to the regional contest. Regional winners will move on to the state contest. Cash prizes will be awarded to each winner with school winners receiving $25 for first place, county winners receiving $35 for first place, and regional winners receiving $150 for first place. All winners will be presented in a public display in the courthouse in downtown Princeton sometime after the beginning of the new year.
