Rhonda Jewell, 4H Agent, Mindy Morgan, Caldwell County 4H Sharpshooters Coordinator, and Matt Hallum, member of the Caldwell County 4H Sharpshooters, were in studio Thursday morning to talk to WPKY about Caldwell County’s Shooting Sports.

Mindy told listeners that the shooting sports season goes from March until early September with practice every Tuesday afternoon and competitions on weekends. Currently Caldwell County 4H Sharpshooters have 8 participating students who compete in trap, archery, and riffle. Coaches include Brian Morgan, Stephanie Hallum, Annette Witherspoon, Ronnie Witherspoon, Josh Waldrum, John Earnest, who was a founding coach of Caldwell’s Sharpshooters, and Harold Baker, as well as three Teen Coaches, Briley Baker, Matt Hallum, and Morgan Witherspoon. Mindy stated that five sharpshooters will be heading to the state competition on September 8th and 9th including Matt Hallum, Bradley Baker, Morgan Witherspoon, Drake Reynolds, and Jace Lowery.

Rhonda then mentioned two upcoming fundraisers for the sharpshooters. The first will be a family portrait session by Premier Portraits on Saturday, August 18th, at the Caldwell County Fire Training Center. For $10 a family will receive a 10×13, 8×10, 5×7, and 4 wallets of their chosen portrait, a $79 value. All those interested must call Missy Bogle at 270-625-1168 or the Caldwell County Extension Office at 270-365-2787 to sign up by August 10th so that everyone can be scheduled.

The other fundraiser will be a Country Ham Breakfast on September 1st at the Caldwell County Extension Office. More information about the fundraiser will be released closer to the date.
