Shane Bogle, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent at the UK Extension Office, was in studio Wednesday morning for WPKY’s weekly Extension Program.

Shane first told listeners about the upcoming 2018 Winter Wheat Meeting on January 4th from 9AM to 3PM at the Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville. Topics will include the 2018 market outlook, profitability potential and risk management update; the reassessment of the 2017 wheat freeze event; weather, climate, and wheat in Kentucky; predicting winter wheat growth; updates from Siemer Milling; fungicide management, and more. Shane also mentioned the upcoming Kentucky Fruit and Vegetable Conference on January 8th and 9th at the Embassy Suites in Lexington. The conference will cover all topics relating to horticultural and registration is available now online. You can find the link here.

Shane also told listeners that the Caldwell County Extension Office will have a Fruit Tree Pruning and Care workshop sometime during the end of the winter. It will be a hands-on all day event for backyard fruit and nut tree growers. The Extension Office will be releasing more information about the workshop after the beginning of the new year.

Shane then said that the 2018 Kentucky Cattleman’s Association Convention & Trade Show will be January 10th, 11th, and 12th at the Hyatt in Lexington.
