A small local repair shop burned to the ground early Monday morning.

The Princeton Fire Department was dispatched to a garage fire at 601 Madisonville Street around 1:40AM. The building was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived. Princeton Fire Chief Brent Frances told WPKY that they battled the blaze until around 6AM, fighting with several layers of shingles and a metal roof that contained several pop up hotspots.

The building, a small repair shop owned by Frankie D. Wright, and all contents were a complete loss. A show car inside the building was also completely destroyed, as well as a vehicle outside, and an adjacent outbuilding.

Chief Frances thanked the Fredonia Fire Department and Eddyville Fire Department, who came to Princeton to be on stand-by to help cover the city and county while crews were battling the blaze on Madisonville Street.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
