Torey Hammett was in studio Thursday morning to talk to WPKY about the West Kentucky Hoops Classic on Thursday, December 28th and Friday, December 29th, at the Caldwell County High School CAB.

The West Kentucky Hoops Classic will have six states represented this year, through both local high school teams and academy teams, including a rematch between Caldwell County’s Lady Tigers and the Lady Warriors from Corinth High School in Corinth, Mississippi. Other talent includes some the highest rated high school players of the year, some of which have already signed to play in college.

The tournament kicks off on Thursday, December 28th, at 11AM with the Caldwell’s Lady Tigers taking on Ballard Memorial. At 12:30PM Calloway County’s Lady Lakers take on Corinth High School’s Lady Warriors. At 2PM Corinth High School’s Warriors take on Dyersburg, TN. At 3:30PM Calloway County’s Lady Lakers take on Ballard Memorial. At 5PM Saint Louis Christian Academy takes on Westridge Academy North Carolina. At 6:30PM Aspire Academy Louisville takes on Cyfair Learning Center from Texas. The last game of the night on Thursday will be Caldwell County’s Tigers taking on Memphis Ridgeway at 8PM.

On Friday, December 29th, the first game starts at 11AM as Caldwell’s Lady Tigers take on Calloway County’s Lady Lakers. At 12:30PM Corinth High School’s Lady Warriors take on Ballard Memorial. At 2PM Cyfair Learning Center takes on Saint Louis Christian Academy. At 3:30PM is the rematch between Caldwell’s Lady Tigers and Corinth’s Lady Warriors. At 5PM Corinth’s Warriors take on Memphis Ridgeway. At 6:30PM Westridge Academy takes on Aspire Academy. And ending out the night and the tournament, Caldwell’s Tigers take on Dyersburg, TN.

Tickets are $7 for one day or $12 for a two day pass, and every Caldwell County student, from kindergarten to the high school get in free. Doors will open at 10AM each day and concessions will be offered throughout the entire day. All the money raised from ticket sales and concession sales go to support all Caldwell County Athletics. Torey said that the proceeds are able to go to Caldwell’s athletics because of the sponsorship of local businesses and individuals. They already have several sponsors, but are always in need of more. Torey said that they need 28 MVP sponsors, currently they have 24. MVP Sponsorship is a gift of $200 or more and includes two free tickets, banner listing, and MVP sponsorship of a game. They are also offering two other sponsorship levels, the Teammate Sponsor level, which is a gift of $101 to $199 and includes two free tickets and a banner listing, as well as the Fan Sponsorship level, which is a gift of $50 to $100 and includes a banner listing.
