More information has been released about a crash involving a tractor-trailer and pickup truck that left the roadway closed for several hours Wednesday night.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident on KY 139/Cadiz Road on Rock Springs Hill, just south of Princeton, just before 6:30PM. Investigation revealed that William Heeke, of Murray, was traveling north in a Chevy Silverado when he attempted to retrieve a dropped cellphone. Heeke then swerved into the opposite lane and struck a tractor-trailer driven by Gregory Yates, of Kuttawa, causing the tractor-trailer to jackknife. Neither driver reported any injuries.

The roadway was closed for several hours as crews worked to clean up a significant amount of oil and fuel that had spilled due to the accident. Crews were able to get the roadway reopened to traffic sometime around 11:30PM Wednesday night.
