Veterans and other members of the community are getting a chance to view a version of the Vietnam War Memorial thanks to the partnership of local funeral homes.

Jenna Wainer and her husband, Brian, own Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton and Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville and are partnering with her family, who own Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Paducah, to bring the ‘Wall That Heals’ to western Kentucky. The wall is a traveling replica of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C.

The ‘Wall That Heals’ will be at Carson Park in Paducah from midnight on Thursday, October 25th through 2:30PM on Sunday, October 28th. The wall will be open 24 hours a day and is free to the public. The wall is the only moving replica made where visitors can etch the names featured.

Jenna stated that she and her family wanted to bring the memorial to the area as a way to honor veterans and the lives of those lost in the Vietnam War.

But having the wall come to western Kentucky requires not only sponsors, but volunteers as well, and Jenna said the community outreach has been amazing.

Local citizens and veterans will be able to be involved with the process before it’s set up in Paducah because of a stop it’s making in Princeton.

Those who don’t wish to participate in the escort itself can line Highway 62 from Princeton to Paducah to watch as the wall and escort parade drive by.

Though the memorial opens at midnight Thursday morning, all in the public are being invited to an opening ceremony later in the day.

Jenna also said that the memorial won’t be the only thing that visitors can see.

Apart from the wall itself and the museum veterans will be able to go to Honor Hall, a place specifically designated for them to get food, drinks, or to sit down.

Jenna implored local community members to not only visit the memorial themselves but also be sure to take veterans.

Jenna also said that there will be opportunities for students to visit the wall. Any school that would like to sign up for a field trip slot can contact Jenna at Morgan’s Funeral Home by calling 270-365-5595.
