Homemakers Raise over $600 at Annual Banquet

The Caldwell County Homemakers Association raised over $600, recognized certain members’ achievements, and had an all around good time at their annual banquet Thursday night at the Extension Office.
Homemakers Treasurer Ann Barnwell stated that $310 was raised during a dessert auction, facilitated by local auctioneer Wayne Cash, that included various pies and cakes made by members of the Homemakers, with a cream of coconut cake made by Sue Ward selling for $35.

She added that through donations collected following the auction, members raised just over $370 for ovarian cancer research that will be utilized to help pay for free cancer screenings within the state.
President Sandra Roberts then acknowledged those members with perfect attendance, which included one year all the way to 19 years. Six members, however, reached even bigger milestones in perfect attendance.

Three other members were then recognized for reading at least one book from six of nine categories in the KEHA Booklist including Mary Lou Stephens, Joan Kendrick, and Dana Hobby.

The Caldwell County Homemakers meet once a month and currently have nine individual clubs. For more information about how you can join, you can call Ashley White at the Caldwell County Extension Office at 270-365-2787.
