Local officials recognized a Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputy for his brave actions at a former assignment Tuesday.

At a Caldwell County Fiscal Court meeting Judge/Executive Larry Curling stated that when Deputy Kenny Vincent was employed with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, he and another deputy were dispatched to a river bank to locate a man who had called 911, with the only way to reach the man by boat. Judge Curling added that once the deputies located the individual the man admitted to having taken methamphetamine.
The man was handcuffed, arrested, and placed in the rescue boat but as the deputies were transporting him to shore he jumped into the river. Judge Curling noted that Deputy Vincent immediately dove from the boat into 40 degree water and was able to save the man, who was already submerged in the muddy water.
Judge Curling stated that for his brave acts, Deputy Vincent received the Medal of Valor from the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association earlier in September. Judge Curling expressed his extreme gratitude for the selfless act Deputy Vincent displayed.
Caldwell County Sheriff Stan Hudson also expressed his gratitude for having such great deputies on staff, adding that Deputy Vincent is a man who always goes above and beyond what is asked of him in providing safety to the community.
