A Mayfield woman is facing several charges, including drug possession and theft, following an incident at a local retail business Thursday afternoon.
Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison states that officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart just before one. He adds that officers were able to make contact with the described suspect around the 1200 block of Highway 62 West and initiated a traffic stop.
Assistant Chief Allison notes that investigation revealed the driver, 36-year-old Angel M. Burnett, was allegedly under the influence of intoxicants and reportedly told officers that she did take items from Walmart without paying.
Burnett was taken into custody and charged with her first DUI offense, theft by unlawful taking under $500, first degree possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia buying or possessing, as well as various other vehicle related offenses.
Burnett was then lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
