101st Combat Aviation Brigade Prepares For Afghanistan Deployment

The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) announced Friday night the B Company, 6th Battalion, 101st Aviation Brigade stationed at Fort Campbell is preparing for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel.

According to Army officials, B Company “Pachyderms” will be attached to the Task Force Ivy Eagle of the 4th Infantry Division Combat Aviation Brigade and will provide additional CH-47F Chinook aircraft and aircrews. The 4th Combat Aviation Brigade will replace the 10th Mountain Division Combat Aviation Brigade, which is part of a regular rotation of forces.

Officials with the 101st, say the “Pachyderms” soldiers and CH-47F Chinook aircraft, one of the premier air assault companies in the conventional army, are prepared to conduct air movement and air assault operations in support of NATO and partnered forces in CENTCOM.
