Regardless of a worldwide pandemic and social distancing becoming the “new normal” National Day of Prayer activities in the local area were able to continue as scheduled, just in a new way, virtually.
HR Ministries Director Harrell Riley and other faith leaders within the community were able to spread throughout Princeton, Caldwell County, and even surrounding counties, to lift the area in prayer Thursday at noon utilizing online platforms like Zoom and Facebook. To kick off the event Presley Lamm, Pastor at Fredonia First Baptist, lead a prayer for the church as he stood between Fredonia First Baptist and the Fredonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Prayers were then lifted up from the steps of the Caldwell County Courthouse as Magistrate District 2 and minister, Jeff Boone, prayed for governmental leaders.
Prayers were then lifted from the Ratliff Ballpark by Calvary Baptist Church Pastor John Hagan, who prayed for the family, followed by business owner Torey Hammett who was in downtown Princeton amid the shops and restaurants to pray for small and large businesses across the community and the nation.
Minister, and a name well known to WPKY, Ken Cummins, then lifted up the media in prayer from the studios of WNKJ Missionary Radio.
From the POW Memorial in front of the Lyon County Justice Center, Director of Missions for the Caldwell-Lyon Baptist Association Rick Reeder lifted the military up in prayer. Back in Caldwell County Cedar Bluff Baptist Church Pastor Mark Faughn lifted the school systems, teachers, and students in prayer from the front seat of his school bus.
Roger Mitchell, newly called minister and administrator at the Kentucky State Penitentiary, lifted correctional facilities, correctional officers, and law enforcement in prayer as he stood on the steps of the facility in Lyon County. Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Pastor Dave Warren then prayed for nursing homes and rehabilitation centers front the front lawn of Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Prayers then went up from between the Princeton Police and Fire Departments as Minister LJ Granstaff prayed for first responders, that they stay safe during this pandemic and all the other afflictions that assail our communities, that they be lights shining during dark times.
Southside Baptist Church Pastor Kyle Noffsinger ended the prayer chain as he stood on the lawn of the Caldwell Medical Center, lifting medical professionals and other front-line workers up in prayer.
