Even as restrictions begin to ease and certain businesses and organizations will soon be able to host more than 33-percent capacity, Administration with the Caldwell County School District are alerting the public that Board of Education meetings are still closed to in-person attendance and will be streamed live on WPKY.
School Superintendent Nate Huggins states the next meeting will be streamed live on WPKY Monday, June 15th beginning at 7PM due to health department guidance that meeting size should not exceed more than ten people. He adds several end of fiscal year action items will be on the agenda including approving the Board Secretary, Treasurer, and Attorney for the next fiscal year, approving applications of anticipated emergency certified substitute teachers for the next school year, approving Certified Evaluations Appeal Panel Members for the next school year, and more.
Huggins notes the Board will also be discussing a motion to temporarily waive the public comment portion of policy 01.45, which has been suggested by the Kentucky School Boards Association due to the coronavirus pandemic. He explains confusion has recently arisen surrounding how the public can let their comments be heard while meetings are closed to in-person attendance and it was recommended public comment be temporarily removed until in-person meetings can resume. Huggins states the Board is hoping to resume in-person meetings in July once restrictions surrounding gatherings ease to 50.
The full agenda for Monday’s meeting can be found on the School District’s website here. For more information you can contact the district office at 270-365-8000. The meeting will be aired on WPKY 103.3FM/1580AM, online here, and on the WPKY app.
