The Caldwell County School District could receive millions of dollars over the course of 25 years due to the investment of Geronimo Energy and solar projects set to be completed by 2023.
At a meeting Monday night Development Associate Elle DeBlieck addressed the Caldwell County Board of Education and outlined Geronimo’s two solar projects within the county, Caldwell Solar and Golden Solar.
She added both projects will generate a significant amount of tax revenue with a majority going back to the school system.
DeBlieck noted Geronimo also donates about $200 per megawatt per year to charitable organizations.
She explained if the school district is chosen as the recipient of the charitable funds they could receive an extra $1.2 million over the course of 20 years, or about $60,000 annually.
Golden Solar, which is located north of Highway 91 between Princeton and Fredonia, has a target construction start date of fall 2021 with a target completion date in the end of 2022.
