Police have released information about a vehicle crashing into a building in downtown Princeton Monday afternoon.
Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shawn Allison says officers were notified by 76-year old Paula Davis, of Marion, shortly before 3:20 p.m. that she was involved in a collision with a building around the courthouse square.
According to Allison, an investigation revealed Davis was attempting to park her car in a parking space in front of the Caldwell County Circuit Clerk’s Office at the Annex located at 105 West Court Street when her vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into the building. Police say the collision caused serious damage to the Clerk’s Office and the Princeton Fire Department was notified to check the building for safety and security.
As previously reported by the News Edge Monday night, county officials said the woman accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.
At the time of the crash, the Circuit Clerk’s Office was closed due to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday.
There were no injuries reported.
