The Pennyrile District Health Department reported Thursday five deaths around its five-county district have been linked to the coronavirus.
Two of those deaths were reported in Caldwell County — a 37-year old male who died on August 29 and a 70-year old female who passed away on August 10.
The other deaths in the district connected to the virus included a 70-year old man in Livingston County on January 16, a 90-year old female in Lyon County on May 23, and a 93-year old man in Trigg County on August 16th.
The health department also announced 56 people around its district tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. Of those, 15 of the cases are in Caldwell County and included nine males and six females who are recovering at home. The latest cases range in age from 3 to 88 with five of those under the age of 18.
Elsewhere around the district, 12 new cases were confirmed in Crittenden County Thursday, along with 14 cases in Livingston County, 4 cases in Lyon County, and 11 new cases in Trigg County.
Statewide, Governor Andy Beshear announced 5,457 newly reported COVID-19 cases Thursday, the second-highest report since the pandemic began. He also reported 45 deaths, including one Kentuckian as young as 27-years old.
