A traffic stop in Providence led to a Hopkins County man being arrested for DUI and drug trafficking.
Providence Police Officer Isaac Frias reports he stopped a vehicle driven by 25-year old Joseph Walton of Nebo at the parking lot of Big Dog’s Gym after receiving a call of a reckless driver. He says Walton was taken into custody for DUI after he appeared to be impaired and was given a series of sobriety tests.
During a search of Walton’s vehicle, police reportedly found containers of prescription drugs that had been filled the previous day. Officer Frias says a further inspection of the containers revealing a large quantity  of drugs were already missing and had been given to at least one other person.
Walton was booked into the Webster County Jail charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
