Police say a traffic stop for an expired registration plate landed a Providence man behind bars facing possession of meth and other charges Monday afternoon.
Providence Police Chief Todd King reports he stopped a vehicle driven by 33-year old Brandon Wayne Greer around 2:00 p.m. on South Willow Street. He said during the traffic stop Greer seemed very nervous when he was being questioned and continued to ignore directions to keep his hands on the steering wheel.
During the investigation, the police chief said during questioning Greer stated he was a Drug Court Graduate and no longer did drugs and consented to a search. During the search of Greer, Chief King said he found a box containing a cut straw and a plastic container with suspected methamphetamine inside the pocket of his jeans, at which time, Greer acknowledged that it was meth and that he was still using it even after Drug Court.
Greer was taken into custody and lodged in the Webster County Jail on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and inadequate silencer, along with two vehicle registration violations.
