Officials in Lyon County have announced spay and neuter vouchers are now available for the county’s residents.
Lyon County Judge-Executive Wade White made the announcement Tuesday and said the vouchers are available at the Lyon County Animal Hospital in Eddyville and Williams Vet Clinic on Highway 1943. He added vouchers are limited to one per family with two new changes — there is no longer an income cut off and anyone qualifies — and the vouchers can now be used when adopting a pet at their partner shelter, the Crittenden County Animal Shelter. White noted if you find a pet at this shelter that has not been fixed you can put the pet on hold, buy your voucher at one of the two vet clinics in Lyon County for $30.00 and take proof with you when picking up the pet at the Crittenden County Animal Shelter. The shelter will waive the spay/neuter cost and allow you to fix your pet in Lyon County at the vet of your choice at a cheaper cost.
Judge White also expressed his gratitude to Dee Robinson of PAWS of Lyon County for the $2,000 donation which was a match with the grant of $2,000 from the state. He adds $1,000 of the PAWS donation comes from the cat named Tinkerbell.
In addition, White thanked everyone who donated their stamps at Food Giant to PAWS that makes this possible.
