Officials with the City of Dawson Springs have announced the Christmas parade scheduled for Sunday has been postponed due to the threat of thunderstorms.
Officials made the announcement on social media that Mayor Chris Smiley made the decision due to the heavy thunderstorms predicted for Sunday at parade time.
According to officials, the Christmas Parade will be held next Sunday evening, December 12th at 5:00. Officials indicate this leaves time for others to enter the parade and they will continue to take applications until Thursday, December 9th.
The theme for this year’s parade is “A Season of Giving”. Officials say entries must have at least one person in costume, riding or walking. Floats may be sponsored by businesses, schools, churches, organizations, or individuals with prizes to be given for Mayor’s Choice, Main Street’s Favorite, and Best of Theme.
Parade entries will assemble at the First Christian Church on Eli Street between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. with judging to begin at 4:00 p.m. Entries not wanting to be judged must arrive by 4:00 p.m. Officials say winners will be announced as they pass by the grandstand.
