An Eddyville man being sought by law enforcement for being a fugitive of justice was arrested in Lyon County Sunday evening after he allegedly ran from deputies.
According to a Lyon County Sheriff’s report, Deputies Keith Suits and Joe Witherspoon received a complaint of a fugitive of justice who was supposed to be in the Eddyville area. Deputy Witherspoon said he located the suspect, 44-year old Mark A. McKenzie, as he pulled up in a vehicle at the FiveStar convenience store in Eddyville. As Deputy Witherspoon approached McKenzie, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot, and was captured near the back of the building. Deputies said McKenzie was taken into custody after he resisted arrest and a Taser was deployed twice.
During a search of McKenzie, deputies said they found suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
McKenzie was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, resisting arrest, and possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. In addition, Sheriff Brent White says McKenzie was served a complaint warrant from McCracken County District Court for leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree criminal mischief, trafficking meth 2nd offense, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with other offenses.
McKenzie was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
