The public is invited to come out to the Caldwell County Middle School gymnasium this weekend and cheer on athletes from around the area as they compete in a Special Olympics Basketball Tournament.
Roy Gene Rogers with the Caldwell County Special Olympics organization says there will be several teams showcased on Saturday.
He says the games begin at 8:00 at the middle school gym with the Caldwell County team scheduled to play two games on Saturday.
According to Rogers, Caldwell County’s Special Olympic Team lost four players this year because they chose not to play or they moved, but they picked up some new players from outside the county. He also says three of their Special Olympic families were affected by the tornado in Dawson Springs.
Rogers says invites everyone to come out to the showcase because it’s exciting and fun to watch the athletes participate.
There is no charge to enter the event but they will accept donations if someone wants to contribute to the Caldwell County Special Olympics.
The Caldwell County Middle School gym is located at 440 Beckner Lane directly behind the high school.
