Officials with Caldwell County Public Schools have announced that the district recently was accepted into T-Mobile’s Project 10 Million program which provides free mobile hotspots to eligible K-12 students who do not have internet access at home.
According to school officials, the district was awarded a limited number of hotspots that have 100GB of available data on them each year. Once that 100GB data runs out, officials say the device will no longer provide internet access until it reloads with 100GB of data the following January. The hotspot will provide 100GB of data each year for 5 years and will come with a CIPA compliant internet filter to block malicious and inappropriate websites.
In order to take part in this program, officials say at least one K-12 student per household must be enrolled in the National School Lunch Program and qualify for Free/Reduced lunch. Only one hotspot is available per household. If are interested in applying for the program, click here.
School officials say hotspots will be distributed to households that meet program requirements on a first come first served basis until they are gone. Those who qualify to receive a mobile hotspot will be notified.
