Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency are encouraging those who were affected by last month’s tornado to apply for financial assistance to help with the rebuilding process.
During a visit with WPKY, FEMA Representative LaTanga Hopes said they are in Caldwell County to help with the rebuilding process by providing information and assistance to homeowners and renters who are uninsured and underinsured. She explained that the assistance is a federal grant that doesn’t have to be repaid.
Hopes explained FEMA is only asking for information to process your application in order to help you with your needs to rebuild.
She stressed FEMA is focused on providing answers to any questions you may have.
Hopes said the first thing FEMA wants to know from homeowners is your home safe, sanitary, and functional.
In addition, FEMA can provide telephone numbers for counseling and legal advice.
If you receive a denial letter, Hopes said it can be appealed two times and also suggested you come to the Disaster Recovery Center for help.
For assistance and any questions, visit the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center and the U.S. Small Business Administration at the Bulter gym located at 600 West Main Street in Princeton from 8:00 until 6:00 Monday through Saturday.
The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is February 11.
