Weather conditions are continuing to deteriorate in Caldwell and Lyon Counties as temperatures drop significantly below freezing tonight.
Rain and ice from Winter Storm Landon have caused power outages for thousands of homes in the region and road conditions to become hazardous.
Caldwell County electric providers…Kenergy, Princeton Electric Plant Board, Kentucky Utilities and Pennyrile Rural Electric Cooperative are all reporting outages. Here’s WPKY’s News Edge Tom Rogers with the power outages as of 6:00 Thursday evening.
Caldwell County Emergency Manager, Joey McCaslin, says it’s best to stay home as trees are falling throughout the area due to the weight of the ice.
Princeton Public Works Director David Sullenger warns that roads will only get worse as temperatures drop tonight, and he advises everyone to avoid travel with debris from falling trees being scattered throughout the city. His full interview with WPKY’s News Edge Tammy Hancock, can be heard here.
