According to Davenport, she believes spec buildings and running a gas line to the current industrial park would be included in this funding.

She also gave an update regarding the proposed internet service project in the northern portion of Caldwell County. Davenport said the president of the Kentucky Broadband and Cable Association is trying to stop the project and Crittenden County Judge-Executive Perry Newcom has spoken to State Senator Robby Mills about what steps can be taken to move the project forward.

She noted the Kinergy project is really good timing because both the governor and the Kentucky House of Representatives have put millions of dollars in the budget for rural broadband development, however, she added there are still some issues with the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Davenport said AT&T and Comcast are arguing that by allowing either a co-op or a non-profit to do business in that area they are competing in AT&T and Comcast’s service territories but not providing any services.
