The Crittenden County Board of Education recently agreed to suspend contact tracking (and thus quarantines) for school and bus contacts beginning Monday. School officials said temperature checks prior to entering the school buildings will also be suspended.
School officials announced on social media the decision was made with careful thought and deliberation in order to accommodate three factors important to them: to preserve in-person learning for students, to allow teachers to better focus on in-person instruction, and to help working families who may struggle to arrange scheduled to care for quarantined children.
According to officials, students who test positive will continue to be quarantined using the guidelines within the school’s Covid-19 Operations Plan, as well as students who are household contacts of a positive case
Officials also reminded everyone that Covid is still a very fluid and evolving situation. School officials said they will continue to evaluate and revise the school district’s operations plan as necessary in order to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and families while protecting learning for students. Officials also encourage families to stay vigilant with healthy practices, including practicing good hygiene, social distancing, and keeping students home when they are sick.
