Dawson Springs Man Charged With Providence Bank Robbery

A Dawson Springs man has been charged in connection to an armed robbery at a bank in Providence that occurred in April of last year.
According to state police, an arrest warrant was obtained Tuesday for 28-year old Matthew Lee Arthur for the robbery that occurred on April 5, 2021 at Planter’s Bank in Providence.
Around 2:30 the afternoon of April 5, 2021, Kentucky State Police Post 2 was contacted by the Providence Police Department to investigate an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Planter’s Bank. State police reported a preliminary investigation revealed that a white male, approximately 6 feet 3 inches entered the bank wearing a hoodie and mask, and demanded money while stating he had a gun. The male then exited the bank with an undetermined amount of money and fled the property on foot.
State police say Arthur is currently incarcerated at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in LaGrange for previous unrelated convictions. He is charged with first-degree robbery.
