Several Indicted By Caldwell County Grand Jury


The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned several indictments from the February 18 session.

Among the indictments, true bills were returned on 25-year old Sevon Elisha Gowen, of Sturgis, Michigan, and 27-year old Brandon Lee-Taylor Ransbottom, of Bronson, Michigan. Gowen was indicted on charges of receiving stolen property under $500, possession of burglary tools, complicity, first-degree promoting contraband, and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
Ransbottom was indicted on charges of receiving stolen property under $500, possession of burglary tools, complicity, possession of marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and receiving stolen property (firearm).

The charges stem from December when Princeton Police reported officers responded to suspicious activity on Meadowbrook Drive. Police said an investigation revealed the men had been in the area allegedly stealing property from tornado-damaged residents and vehicles.
Princeton Police served Gowen and Ransbottom with Indictment Warrants Monday at the Caldwell County Jail. Both men are being held on a $7,500 cash District Court bond.

27-year old Justin W. Thomas, of Lafayette, and 23-year old Tyler R. Thomas, of Alexandria, Tennessee, were both indicted on charges for receiving stolen property over $1,000 but under $10,000, and first-degree possession of a controlled substance, complicity. Justin Thomas was additionally indicted for tampering with physical evidence and Tyler Thomas was also indicted for reckless driving, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, and insurance and vehicle registration violations.
The two men were arrested by Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputies as they were assisting the Cadiz Police Department with a traffic stop in December 2021 on Interstate 24. Deputies reportedly executed a search warrant on the vehicle and found several stolen items inside that were reported stolen by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and the Hopkinsville Police Department.

Princeton Police served both men with the Indictment Warrants at the Caldwell County Jail on Monday. Both are being held on a $15,000 cash District Court bond.
The grand jury indicted 62-year old Ray L. Bozarth, of Princeton, on a second-degree assault charge. The charge stems from December 2021 when Princeton Police responded to an assault complaint and an investigation determined Bozarth hit 32-year old Brett Whitney, of Princeton, with a hammer several times causing serious physical injuries. Whitney was transported by EMS to Caldwell County Hospital for treatment.

He remains lodged in the Caldwell County Jail on a $20,000 cash District Court bond. Princeton Police served Bozarth with the Indictment Warrant at the jail Monday.

A true bill was returned for 40-year old Matthew S. Oliver, of Princeton, on charges of possession of marijuana, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
