Mayor Kota Young has announced when the spring trash pick-up will begin and provided an update about the ice storm clean-up.
According to Mayor Young, the spring trash pick-up will begin Monday, March 14. He says all trash must be out by 7:00 that morning for pick up because there will be no call backs. He urges residents to not start putting trash out before Friday, March 11th.
Mayor Young also offered the following reminders about the pick up:
– The size of the load is limited to a standard pickup truck bed for each household.
– Residents should bag all loose trash if possible in order to speed up the clean-up process.
– All items must be placed curbside, but not blocking sidewalks or ditches. However, trash must still be able to be reached from the roadway.
– No single item may be over 100 pounds in weight.
– No limbs, yard waste, air conditioners, tires, or other EPA-regulated, as well as construction debris – shingles, drywall, etc.
– Do not leave any containers you don’t want to be hauled away, i.e. wheelbarrows, old trash cans, etc.
The mayor also provided an update about the ice storm clean-up. He says crews finished up collecting debris from the recent ice storm Thursday. He adds the burn pit will remain open until next Tuesday, March 8th, at noon. Mayor Young indicates residents may still bring their vegetative debris to the site to be burnt until that time. The burn pit is located in the industrial park at the very end of Park Avenue.
