A Princeton teen who died Friday after being seriously injured in a two-vehicle wreck last week will be laid to rest Saturday.
As previously reported, 17-year old Charles Matthew “Matt” Brewer was flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana Tuesday after Princeton Police said his vehicle was hit in the driver’s side around 6:15 that evening on Marion Road. Police said Brewer was making a left turn from Jeff Watson Road onto Marion Road when he pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle being driven by 20-year old Jaden Travis of Princeton. Brewer reportedly died from his injuries at the hospital Friday.
According to Morgan’s Funeral Home, funeral services for Brewer will be at noon Saturday at Caldwell County High School in the CAB Building. Burial will follow in Calvert Cemetery in Caldwell County.
The funeral notice says Brewer was a senior at Caldwell County High School where he was a member of the Caldwell County Band of Pride. He was the Drumline Captain for three years, participated in the Jazz Band and played electric guitar including the National Anthem at his final football game. He was also known to play music at multiple churches in the area. Brewer attended dual credit classes in Welding at Caldwell Regional Career Center where he planned to complete his welding degree and enlist in the US Marine Corps. Brewer was also known for his servant’s heart and volunteered with the Band Boosters, Bright Life Farms, and helped anyone that he knew needed it.
Brewer is survived by his parents Barry and Starr Brewer, a sister, two brothers, maternal grandparents, and other relatives.
Officials with the Caldwell County Band of Pride are asking everyone to remember Brewer’s family, friends, and bandmates during this time of need. They say three accounts have been set up to help the family:
1) An account at Farmer’s Bank in Princeton has been set up for medical expenses accrued by Matt’s hospital care. Donations can be made there for that purpose.
2) A PayPal account has been set up to assist the Brewers with their immediate needs. That account is @Brewerfamily2022
3) A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help with funeral expenses. The link to that account is: https://gofund.me/4aa68b4b
